All storms will pass ...

In every storm, our first instinct is to look for shelter.  When we cannot find shelter, we may just stop where we are, and pray for protection.  Some are prepared to drive right through the storm because they believe they will eventually exit into better weather.

It is the same with our life journeys.  How well prepared are we to weather the storms in our life?  I believe we can better handle the storms in our health, our career, or our relationships, if we are grounded in the real foundations that sustain life.

A tree may take a long time to grow, but if it is planted right, it will have deep roots that anchor it well.

All storms will pass, and that includes the storms of life.

"Adversity is like the period of the rain ...  cold, comfortless, unfriendly to man and animal; yet from that season have their birth the flower, the fruit, the date, the rose and the pomegranate." - Sir Walter Scott.

Hong Kee Bamboo Noodle

The shop speciality is its 'bamboo wantan noodles'. The noodles like all wantan noodles are made from wheat flour but the difference here is that the kneading of the dough is with a long bamboo pole. The dough placed on a counter is pressed down with the bamboo pole, turned over and pressed again. This process is repeated several times. Apparently, this way of kneading makes the noodles more springy for a good bitey experience; in Chinese this is called Q-Q.

Curry Octopus
The shop also offers barbecued pork belly (Char Siew), roast pork (Siu Yuk), pork trotters, chicken leg stew and wantan dumplings.

Handmade Wan Thun Noodle
Other noodles served include Yee Fu Mee, Hokkien Char, Mee Sua Koh, Fried Venison Hor Fun and Oyster Noodles.

Mooncakes at Mid-Autumn

Piglet
Goldfish and Carp

The Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Han calendar—essentially the night of a full moon—which falls near the Autumnal Equinox (on a day between September 8 and October 7 in the Gregorian calendar).

During the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644 AD) and the Qing Dynasty (1644–1912 AD), the Mid-Autumn Festival was as popular as Chinese New Year.

Dough & Filling
The tradition of eating mooncakes during the festival began in the Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368), a dynasty ruled by the Mongols.

God did not promise days without pain

Pain is not an indicator of God's wrath, but rather His grace and His mercy.

Suffering is the fertilizer to the roots of the tree of Character bearing fruits of Righteousness to feed the hungry soul of man.  Your fruits are not for you to eat but to be tasted by people.

God may use hardship to get us give up a bad habit or learn a new virtue.   He used a thorn in Paul's flesh to teach him about grace (2 Cor.12:7-9).
