Sharing over a good meal with friends helps to build stronger relationships. Other then catch-up over a simple dinner or partaking in a massive celebration it leads to a much happier and healthier life.

Why children need to obey their parents
The Bible says, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" - which is the first commandment with a promise - "so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." Ephesians 6:1-3 NIV
If our children disobey this command of the Lord, they could not only be cut off from all God has for them, but heir lives could be cut short as well.
The Bible also says, "If someone curses their father or mother, their lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness." The fact that we can affect the length and quality of our children's lives is reason enough to pray, instruct, and discipline them.
Honoring our parents is more than an obligation. It's also a privilege. As children we honor them by obedience; as adults by frequent calls or visits and self sacrificing care.

Count Our BLESSINGS
Let's start the New Year with things we can be grateful for. Let's reflect on the things that we've gone through so that we can plan for the future. Thanking God for the time we have spent with the children and a supportive wife. The children have grown up so fast, it's unbelievable that so many years has passed. We still feel like we've just started our lives together.
The realization that we are on borrowed time brings clarity to our lives. We can focus on what really matters and priorities our needs.
Everything can be beautiful if we do not allow envy, anger and negative things to tarnish our lives.
Through pain and suffering, I learn to be grateful for what I have - good health, mobility, unimpaired sight, fairly good hearing and being able to laugh and smile.
This brings to mind the Greek philosopher Epictetus who said; "He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoice for those which he has."
